The Model "British Matron"

Preview
In this drawing I wanted to show how John Calcott Horsley thought that his female students would be corrupted if they had to make life art from other naked women so in the painting I wanted to make him as the corseted Matron being disgusted by the Medici Venus (zyntara).

  1. How amusing! Not only does the picture portray subtle humor from the structure and facial expressions in both the person's and the sculpture's pose, it is a lovely way to demonstrate the point. Yes, I would be blushing if i had to sculpt such art. Too erratic for me! But how beautiful is that girls get to engage in artistic studies!

  2. This picture shows a lot of character and how John Calcott Horsley felt about women painting pictures of naked women. I think that it is very interesting like Elizabeth Barrett said that it is wonderful how the women get to engage in such great work. But how do you feel about woman doing art like this? I wouldn't do it myself but I cant speak for everyone.
